At The Ridge we believe that children learn best in an environment where they feel good about themselves and their achievements are celebrated. Learning should be fun and our curriculum is carefully designed to promote active learning and children who develop independence and creativity.
Teaching is based upon the requirements of the National Curriculum and the knowledge skills and understanding in each subject is taught progressively throughout the school. The core subjects of English, Maths and Science are taught discreetly along with Physical Education, Music and in Key Stage 2, French. Each term there is a theme which is used to link and integrate learning in the Foundation Subjects (Computing, History, Geography, Religious Education, Art, Design Technology and Personal, Social and Health Education.) Our dynamic curriculum is enriched through focus weeks, where the whole school explores a theme together and complemented by a wide variety of visitors, theatre companies and visits which inspire and motivate the children. Further opportunities for children to enhance their interests are offered through residential visits and a comprehensive range of after school clubs, including sports, arts, music and cookery.
